Steven Nigg, a 60-year-old man serving time for a gun charge, left Fogle with a bloody nose and swollen face after the alleged attack in the prison yard, TMZ reported, based on records. Nigg was sent to solitary confinement as punishment, according to the prison.
Nigg's family said the attack was retribution for how many sex offenders are being held in Englewood FCI, a low-security prison.
Fogle was convicted last year of possessing child pornography and having sex with underage prostitutes, a shocking turn for the former face of Subway restaurants. Fogle became famous for losing over 200 pounds, mainly on a diet consisting of Subway sandwiches.
The restaurant chain has severed all ties with Fogle.
