Commuters had a furry surprise on Tuesday when a raccoon boarded their train.

Those at Toronto's Spadina subway station spotted the animal wandering along the platform before it eventually hitched a ride on a train.

In the above video, the bold raccoon can be seen scurrying around commuters' feet.

One passenger snapped the animal inside one of the carriages as it appeared to make one commuter quite uncomfortable before peeping inside her bag.

Local media reported that there were short delays to the service and that the raccoon eventually hopped off the train and headed into one of the tunnels.
