Sadeekah Abdul Salaam accused of abandoning youngster on street corner in the Bronx
Police have arrested the mother of a young girl found wandering the streets of a New York neighborhood alone.
Sadeekah Abdul Salaam, 32, is accused of abandoning the youngster on a street corner in the Bronx last weekend.
Now she has been charged with reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of a child, and abandonment of a child, according to the New York Post.
NYPD had released surveillance video footage of the four-year-old girl being led by a woman through the Bronx, minutes before she was found abandoned.
In the shocking video the woman, whose face was covered by a headscarf, stopped to look back at the girl, who was walking slowly behind her.
The woman then walked off ahead of the girl, leaving the youngster, wearing rain boots, a blue sweater and sweatpants, trailing behind.
The youngster was taken to Lincoln Medical Center where she was evaluated by doctors and found to be in good health.
She is now in the care of the city’s child services.
