A police officer in Columbus, Ohio accidentally shot a four-year-old girl while aiming at a dog who was charging the officer.
The bullet struck the girl in the leg and she was taken to nearby Nationwide Children's Hospital in stable condition, according to HLN. She is expected to make a full recovery.
The officer was summoned on 19 June by a woman seeking help for her sister, who allegedly had cut herself on some glass.
As the officer tried to tend the injured woman, a dog inside the home charged at the officer, who fired one shot at the dog. He instead struck the young girl.
Columbus police say they are investigating the shooting.
