A man has been held by Secret Service agents outside the White House after reportedly trying to fly a drone or other aerial device.

CNN said the man was held shortly after 1.15pm. Images showed a man being held, face down to the floor.

It was reported that President Barack Obama was at the presidential retreat at Camp David in Maryland.

The White House was placed on lock-down while officials investigated the incident.
