A 72-year-old man allegedly shot his wife, 28, in the face after she complained to him that he did not satisfy her.
Clarence White was said to have shot Dominique White with a handgun after she told him he was unable to meet her needs financially or sexually, police sources told the New York Daily News.
Officers found Ms White sitting on the floor of a corridor in the couple's home on Glebe Avenue, Parkchester, in the Bronx.
Doctors said she was in a critical but stable condition after being hit in the right cheek, the paper reported.
According to court documents, Mr White admitted shooting his wife following an argument during which she asked him to move out.
During the row, she also told him he was not doing anything to satisfy her.
Mr White told police he did not mean to shoot her but only wanted to scare her. He immediately called emergency services and tried to stop her bleeding while waiting for responders to arrive, police sources said.
He now faces charges of attempted murder, assault, harassment and criminal use of a firearm.
