A man has died after a gun he was taking a selfie with went off and shot him in the head.

Oscar Otero Aguilar, 21, from Mexico City, had reportedly been drinking with two of his friends before the tragic incident happened.

According to the Daily Mirror, he liked to take photos of himself next to impressive items and his final one was no different – it was meant to go on Facebook.

A neighbour, Manfredo Paez Paez, 57, is reported to have said: “I heard a gunshot, and then I heard somebody screaming and realised somebody had been hurt.

“I called the police straight away and when they arrived they found that he was still alive.”

He died on the way to the hospital.

According to police, Aguilar had been playing around with the gun and trying to take pictures with it when it accidentally went off.

The accident happened last week.
