From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Kermit the Frog has a new girlfriend named Denise, an ABC marketing executive.

The shakeup will make things awkward when “The Muppets” debuts on ABC on 22 September. The new series showcases Miss Piggy's new gig as late-night talk show host, the New York Daily News reports.

Kermit and Ms Piggy rocked the entertainment world last month when they announced the end of their 30-year relationship. The former item released a joint statement announcing their separation merely 28 days ago.

"After careful thought, thoughtful consideration and considerable squabbling, we have made the difficult decision to terminate our romantic relationship."

However, people are speculating that Kermit only ditched Ms Piggy because of his new found fame from all those sipping tea memes. (He can thank Black Twitter, really.)

People are also suggesting that Kermit the Frog is what they call a "straight savage."

Some even questioned Kermit's frog-hood.

And some people just didn't approve at all.

Meanwhile, Miss Piggy seems to be doing just fine. Actor Liam Hemsworth joined Instagram on Monday and shared the following photo as his first post.
