Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

A grieving mother has posted a video of her three children on the day that she and her husband buried them.

Jennifer Neville-Lake from Ontario, Canada, shared footage of nine-year-old Daniel, five-year-old Harrison and two-year-old Milly rehearsing a dance routine, filmed around a month before the three children and their grandfather died in a car accident.

Gary Neville, 65, and the three kids were killed after a car driven by Marco Muzzo, 29, collided with the family's vehicle, driven by grandmother Neriza Neville at the time. Both her and the children's great-grandmother, Josephina Frias, are currently recovering from the injuries they sustained in the crash.

Muzzo was charged with four counts of impaired driving causing death.

Mrs Neville-Lake wrote underneath the posted video, 'Today is the day we bury my family. Ed's and my hopes for the future, our legacy and our dreams will be committed to the ground for eternity along with my father who was the "patriarch" of my family. '

She mentions how the dance was planned to be performed on the couple's 10th wedding anniversary and how the video shows off the children's personalities.

'Here is the only rehearsal I have on record but it shows the personalities of each of them. If you knew Harry please take note of far he had come by seeing how he dances and twirls. Milly giggles throughout as my beautiful Daniel directs his brother and sister.'

To help with the family's legal expenses, a gofundme page has raised over $250,000 in just over three weeks.
