Shannon Stone, 39, was watching a Texas Rangers game with his seven-year-old son in Arlington when a player tossed the foul ball up the stand for him. He overbalanced while reaching over a rail and fell 20ft.
Mr Stone was conscious after the fall and speaking to medics, but his condition worsened on the way to hospital in Fort Worth.
