Donald Trump has revealed Oprah as his ideal running mate in presidential campaign

Just hours after announcing he was joining the 2016 US presidential race, Donald Trump sat down with George Stephanopoulos and revealed his ideal running mate: Oprah Winfrey.

The ABC News anchor reminded Mr Trump that in 1999, when he was considering a presidential run, he said he would like to run with Ms Winfrey. The newly announced presidential candidate said he has not changed his mind.

In fact, he said the Trump/Winfrey ticket would march all the way to the White House.

“She’s great, she’s talented, she’s a friend of mine. She’s a good person. I’ve been on her show. I like Oprah. I mean, is that supposed to be a bad thing? I don’t think so.”

Mr Trump still is a long way off from naming a running mate. He would need to win the Republican presidential nomination, which right now he is a long shot to do. He was the 12th Republican candidate to declare for the presidency, with more candidates likely to declare.
