From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The President took to Twitter on Tuesday evening to accuse liberal activists of fuelling negative headlines against his administration. His Republican constituents have faced frustrated citizens over his cabinet appointments, foreign policy agenda, and promise to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
Nearly 1,000 protesters greeted Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell earlier in the day as he delivered a speech while touring Kentucky.
Republicans have accused liberal donors of bankrolling the local protesters.
President Trump tweeted: "The so-called angry crowds in home districts of some Republicans are actually, in numerous cases, planned out by liberal activists. Sad!"
Minutes before the tweet, Fox News journalist Peter Doocy denied the legitimacy of the nationwide protests during a TV broadcast.
He said: “Some of the chaos from GOP town hall meetings is very well-choreographed by the liberal activists that helped get Barack Obama elected president.”
Apparently the President is still tuning into Fox News and making accusations based on the network’s reporting, despite his recent gaffe over a terror attack in Sweden that never took place.
