A fourth suspect has reportedly shot himself after an hours-long standoff with officers in the El Centro parking garage in downtown Dallas.

Earlier, Chief Brown said that the suspect told officers that “the end is coming” and "more will die". They also claimed to have planted bombs in the garage and in the surrounding area.

Eleven officers were shot as sniper fire broke out during a protest against police violence. Five of the officers – one of whom was an officer for the city’s public transit system, DART – died. One civilian was injured.

Shots rang out shortly before 9 pm local time as hundreds of peaceful protesters gathered to protest the deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile – two black men killed by police officers within 48 hours of each other.
