A 45-year-old man was shot and killed while riding the subway in the Bronx.

Police received a call just after 5am on Friday that a man had been injured on the southbound D train as it was pulling into the 182-183 Street station, NYPD told The Independent.

When officers arrived, the 45-year-old was unconscious and unresponsive. He had suffered a wound in his torso, authorities said.

There are no perpetrators in custody, NYPD said.

However, police are looking for three suspects who fled the just after the unnamed man was shot, according to WABC. The Independent could not indpendently verify this information.

It’s not immediately clear if these suspects were involved in the shooting.

No weapon was recovered from the scene, the outlet reported.

First responders attempted life-saving measures on the subway platform before the man was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

D trains in both directions are bypassing the station on Friday as the police investigation continues, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

The Independent has reached out to the NYPD for more information.
