Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

At least 4,099 people in the US have died from the virus as of 1 April, according to global Covid-19 data collected by the university.
The latest numbers come after Donald Trump declared a national emergency over the deadly virus, believed to have originated in a market in Wuhan, China.
Governors in states across the country have declared states of emergency, with New York City closing nightclubs and mandating restaurants to takeout only as the vast majority of residents have been sent home from school and work to self-isolate in their homes.
The CDC released guidelines urging Americans to cancel all events with more than 50 people, as more than 30 states closed schools. The global death toll has meanwhile surpassed 44,000.
Figures are gathered from both local and state health agencies, and include presumptive positives that have not been confirmed by the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.
The figures also include three people repatriated from Wuhan, China; 46 people repatriated from the Diamond Princess cruise ship in Japan; and 21 from the Grand Princess cruise ship that was allowed to dock in Oakland, California.
