Dylann Roof has been charged with nine counts of murder and possession of a weapon in the Charleston, South Carolina church shooting.

The suspect has also waived his right to counsel in North Carolina, CNN reported.

The 21-year-old was allegedly responsible for the massacre that took nine lives at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church Wednesday night.

Mr Roof is scheduled to appear in bond court this afternoon at 2pm.
