After the victims - aged 20 and 22 - tried to pet the woman’s dog in her arms, the three bus riders got into an argument. A few moments later, the female suspect lashed at the victims with a knife, police said.
The older victim had lacerations on her face with huge gashes over her eyebrow and forehead from the incident. The other had a wound on her left arm following the incident.
The suspect hopped off the bus immediately after the knife attack and then fled in a green SUV taxi. The victims also got off the bus to seek medical treatment at the Lincoln Medical Center.
Lucy Yang, a reporter for ABC7, uploaded a video on Twitter speaking with the victims. The video shows the stitched up lacerations on the 22-year-old’s face.
“She sliced my face because I went to go touch her service dog,” the older victim said in the video. And that’s it.”
“She had the dog in her hands and she took the taxi and left,” she added.
The police are on the hunt for the female suspect. They released a still image from the surveillance footage of the violent incident, and described her to be between 30 and 35-years-old and between 5’7 to 5’9. During the attack, the suspect was holding a black shoulder purse, and was wearing eyeglasses, a dark baseball hat, black pants, black coat and white sneakers.
The dog she was holding is white.
