Christian Bale, the British star of the Batman films, visited survivors of the Colorado cinema shooting on Tuesday, and thanked medical staff and police officers who responded to the attack that killed 12 people and injured 58 others.
Dressed casually in a T-shirt and jeans, Bale, with his wife Sibi Blazic, also stopped at a memorial near the cinema that was showing The Dark Knight Rises when the gunman struck. He walked among the 12 crosses erected for each of the slain victims. Bale earlier issued a statement saying: "Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them."
