Activist Bree Newsome was released on bail Saturday for removing the Confederate flag from Charleston’s State House.

Protesters raised more than $20,000 in her effort to release her on bail from her “defacing a monument “charges.

Dr. William J. Barber II, the president of the National Association for Advancement of Colored People North Carolina chapter, praised Ms Newsome and compared even compared her Rosa Parks.

"[Newsome] stands in a long tradition... Fannie Lou Hamer, Rosa Parks, and more recently hundreds of protesters in Moral Monday ... were all considered, at first, criminals for their acts of conscience," he said. "We stand in solidarity with her, and the deep commitment which she has to justice, love, and true inter-racial community. We stand with her as she is our family."

Celebrities, public officials and artists to stand in support of the 30-year-old activist.

And many artists drew and animated renditions of the photo.
