Your support makes all the difference.Adventurous designers gathered in New York on Thursday to present their creations to judges at the 10th annual Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest, and try to claim the $10,000 (£5,900) first place prize.
Not content with the challenge of sewing a dress fit for a wedding using traditional silk and taffeta, the ten finalists from across the US had taken up the gauntlet of only using loo paper and glue to fashion their creations.
Armed with 1 and 2-ply paper and hot glue guns, contestants made stunning and wide-ranging outfits - from simple off-the shoulder 1950s prom-dresses, to extravagantly decorated gowns embellished with paper roses and fine lacing.
Some of the elaborate pieces were accompanied by headpieces, purses and delicate veils.
Susann Brennan was crowned the winner of the contest run by Cheap Chic Weddings and hosted at the Haven Rooftop at The Sanctuary Hotel in Manhattan, with her 'Romance on a Roll' entry.
Runner-up Katrina Chalifoux from Knoxville, Tennessee, received a check for $5,000 (£2,950), and third place winner Amber Mills from Hurst, Texas, went home with $2,500 (£1,470)
Bridal couture designer and Project Runway season 11 and 12 contestant Kate Pankoke helped to choose the winner.
“As a designer who specializes in bridal, I was particularly impressed with the level of creativity the ten finalists brought to their dresses,” said Pankoke.
She added that it was "incredible" to see how contestants used toilet paper to create "soft and sturdy gowns as beautiful as those made from fine fabrics."
"Susan’s dress was stunning!” she said.
