Firefighters in Los Angeles have reported that around 50,000 gallons of crude oil has been spilled onto streets over a half mile radius after an oil pipe ruptured.
The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) reported that a handful of business had been affected and that the oil was knee high in some areas.
According to a fire department release, the leak, which happened near the Glendale part of the city, came from a 20-inch pipe and was reported around 12:15 a.m.
The oil line was remotely shut off and no injuries were reported.
50,000 gallons of crude oil would fill approximately 1,000 standard sized bathtubs.
The fire department had originally said that approximately 1 million gallons of crude oil had spilled onto the street, but this was later revised.
