Algeria tries 55 on arms charges
Algeria, fighting Muslim fundamentalist unrest, put 55 people on trial on charges of setting up an armed group, smuggling arms and helping Algerians return home after guerrilla training in Afghanistan, Reuter reports from Paris. The trial, in a special court in the western city of Oran, was expected to last several days.
