Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

More than 12 million people are at risk of dying from hunger in the Horn of Africa as a result of the worst drought in 60 years.

Two million children under the age of five are malnourished and 500,000 are severely malnourished. The Independent on Sunday is asking readers, their friends and families, to join its senior staff and each pledge one day's pay to the DEC appeal. High-profile figure from the worlds of politics, sport and the arts are backing us. Together, The Independent on Sunday and its sister title, The Independent, have so far raised more than £100,000. Thank you!

They joined - how about you?

Juliet Stevenson

Actress

"It's a great campaign and good for 'The Independent on Sunday' for continuing to draw people's attention to it. There's been so much dramatic news recently and it's been taking away the focus on events that are far more catastrophic than what's happening in the West."

Alastair Campbell

Former No 10 communications chief

"The developed world has big problems of its own but they are nothing like the problems faced by millions of Africans. The 'IoS' campaign will not solve those problems but it will help to maintain awareness and show we can all play a part, large or small."

Mo Farah

Athlete

"I am always willing to lend my support to causes such as this, especially due to my strong connection to East Africa. I am in the process of starting a charity of my own devoted to this cause."

Bonnie Greer

Author/playwright

"I thoroughly applaud what 'The Independent on Sunday' is doing to highlight the plight of famine in Africa. It's easy to feel fatigue from the continual images of destitution and starving children, but we must eradicate famine once and for all."
