Jean-Leonard Rugambage worked for the privately owned Umuvugizi, which was recently forced to stop publishing for six months by Rwanda's media regulator for inciting opposition to the government. Journalists with the newspaper had continued to publish online.
The rights group Reporters Without Borders said: "As the August presidential election approaches, the government is organising a... campaign in which all sources of criticism are being suppressed."
