At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. Remarkable footage shows the big cat sniffing around the inside of the car having entered through the side of the vehicle.
The video shows one member of the group nervously waiting as the cheetah looms over his shoulder.
The man in the video, Britton Hayes, was reportedly told by his guide to keep still and not make eye contact with the animal.
According to Hayes, there was another cheetah on the hood of the vehicle in addition to the surprise intruder.
