Six workers at the Sellafield nuclear plant in Cumbria were contaminated after a leak of radioactive dust in the building.
Staff working in part of the Magnox plant were immediately evacuated after the release was detected at 9.15 on Sunday evening. British Nuclear Fuels (BNFL) said the contamination, a very "rare occurrence" was "very minor indeed" and no radioactivity was released outside the plant. The workers were decontaminated at the plant's medical department and allowed to go home, BNFL said. The incident is being investigated and the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate has been informed.
