Woman jailed for friend's drug death

A woman whose friend died after she gave her an ecstasy tablet at a nightclub was jailed for eight months at Southwark Crown Court. Rebecca Cope, 29, of Westcliffe-on-Sea, Essex, had handed over the pill to help Joanna Hyde, 28, celebrate her birthday. But after a few hours of dancing, her friend, who had never taken the drug before, collapsed. She died after five days on a life-support machine.
