From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. You couldn’t make it up: a man has been spotted chasing after a camel down the middle of a busy motorway in Abu Dhabi.
In scenes that look like something from a Carry On movie, the poor guy was filmed trying to get hold of the escaped camel as it galloped away down the road.
Despite the man’s commendable athletic efforts, the camel manages to put distance between itself and its pursuer as it spirits away.
It appears that the man lost his shoes during the pursuit, which was captured by a motorist in a passing car.
British teaching assistant Ellie Long caught the bizarre sight on video while driving along with her family in the UAE.
The video quickly went viral and has garnered 75,503 views – and counting – after Ellie shared the video on Facebook last Thursday.
Underneath the post Ellie wrote, “Only in abu dhabi lol” - it kind of makes us wish we had camels in the UK…
