Kenichi Ito has broken the world record for the fastest 100m running on all fours. The 33-year old man from Tokyo sprinted the distance using both hands and feet in 15.71 seconds at the Komazawa Olympic Park Athletic Field in Setagaya, Tokyo.
Ito is no beginner; he has broken the record three times: in 2008 (18.58 seconds), in 2012 (17.47 seconds) and in 2013 (16.87 seconds).
In 2014, he was bettered by Katsumi Tamakoshi who finished the 100m in 15.86 seconds, but Ito managed to shave off 0.1 seconds this year.
It is a rags to records story for Ito, who works as a cleaner and reportedly mops floors on all fours to practice his technique.
He earned the nickname ‘monkey man’ after spending several years on how the animals move.
The record was broken in celebration of Guinness World Record Day on 12 November where over 650,000 people worldwide will be trying to enter the famous book.
