More than 100 women are being recalled for smear tests after it was revealed that a doctor had been using the wrong technique for three years.

East Sussex Family Health Services Authority said it has contacted 122 women, all patients of Chandrakant Patel, in Peacehaven, East Sussex. Nigel Kirkham, consultant pathologist at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, said: 'We don't think any of these women are in real danger of having a severe abnormality, but we do think it's wise to repeat the sampling.'
