The village inside a village inside a village inside a village inside a village

Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Above is a picture of the delightful Bourton-on-the-water in Gloucestershire, England.
It has a population of 3,296, lies within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and has 117 buildings with Grade II or higher listed status.
It is so beautiful that in 1937, local craftsmen decided to build a 1:9 scale replica of the village inside the village, which looks like this:
It is a popular tourist attraction, turning toddlers into superheroes.
But it doesn't end there. The model village has its own model village.
And at the back of this 'model model village' sits a 'model model model village'.
This game of Village Inception is getting pretty fiddly by this point, with the 'model model model village' being about a foot wide.
But of course, someone put another model village in it. Look closely in the top left corner and you'll see the village inside a village inside a village inside a village inside a village.
With the advances of 3D printing could we soon see a village inside a village inside a village inside a village inside a village inside a village?
Or with the rise of nanotechnology a village inside a village inside village inside a village inside a village inside a village inside a village?
I fear an infinite village wormhole.
