Two women have died and 10 others injured in a collision between two taxis in Doncaster, South Yorkshire.

Police report that the crash occurred at 12:25am on Sunday 31 January on Great North road heading towards Doncaster, near the Mount Pleasant hotel.

Two women aged 59 and 52 died in the collision. The women were riding in an LTI London taxi with two other passengers, both male, aged 58, and a 61-year-old driver, all of whom were taken to hospital for minor injuries.

The taxi collided with a Fiat vehicle containing a 40-year-old driver and six passengers; three women and three men, aged between 21 and 29.

All passengers in the Fiat, as well as the driver, were taken to hospital to treat minor injuries.

The road has now reopened.
