A number of suspected paedophiles were arrested by police today during a series of dawn raids in the largest ever operation against child pornography on the Internet to take place in the UK.
A number of suspected paedophiles were arrested by police today during a series of dawn raids in the largest ever operation against child pornography on the Internet to take place in the UK.
The Metropolitan Police Paedophile Unit co-ordinated the massive operation which involved 13 forces in England and Scotland.
Officers arrested 13 people and recovered 27 computers along with thousands of photographs, videos and magazines.
Most of the material features scenes of children being raped and sexually abused and those arrested are thought to be linked.
DCI Bob McLachlan, head of the Met's Paedophile Unit, said: "Today's operation is the result of an intelligence led operation targeted at stemming the distribution of child pornography via the Internet.
