There was optimism from the Mayor of London as he celebrated Chinese New Year in Trafalgar Square yesterday.
Against a backdrop of firecrackers, elaborate dragon costumes and deafening percussion, Boris Johnson said: "The point of this kind of event is to celebrate the Chinese New Year but also to intensify those links between London and China ... I think it shows the way the world economy is going."
