For copyright reasons we are not able to provide the full text of the poem on this database. Following are the details of the publication in which it appears.
THE PHOTOGRAPHER: Alan Reevell is a self-taught photographer, born in Middlesbrough in 1961. He worked at first in the music business before moving into the field of press photography. He has said of these pictures that 'what I wanted to show was the way that their difficult lifestyles had manifested themselves in their hands' though at least one sitter concluded that he was involved in a competition to find the dirtiest hands in Ireland.
THE POET: Robin Robertson was born in Scone, Perthshire and lived for 20 years on the north-east coast of Scotland before moving to London. He has published work in various periodicals and is a contributor to After Ovid: versions of Metamorphoses, to be published next year by Faber and Faber.
