Blake Morrison was born in Skipton, Yorkshire, in 1950. He is the author of two collections of poetry, Dark Glasses and The Ballad of the Yorkshire Ripper (Chatto & Windus) and is the co- editor of The Penguin Book of Contemporary British Poetry. This poem is from The Faber Book of Vernacular Verse edited by Tom Paulin and is the third in this week's series of poems written in non-standard English featured in the Daily Poem.
