Paul Muldoon was born in Northern Ireland in 1952. Educated at Queen's University, Belfast, he then worked for many years as a BBC Radio producer. His previous collections include Madoc, Shining Brow and Selected Poems, all published by Faber. This poem is from his forthcoming collection The Annals of Chile due out in the autumn from Faber. Paul Muldoon will be reading at The Hay Festival on Sunday at 4.10pm (Box Office 0497 821299).
