John Burnside was born in Dunfermline in 1955. His previous collections include The Hoop (Carcanet), Common Knowledge and Feast Days (Secker & Warburg); for which he has just been awarded the Geoffrey Faber Memorial Prize. His new collection The Myth of the Twin is published by Faber. John Burnside is included in the New Generation promotion, and will be reading with two other New Generation poets, Glyn Maxwell and Sarah Maguire, at Birmingham Readers and Writers Festival, Midland Arts Centre, Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham at 9pm.
