A WOMAN has won pounds 64,000 compensation from a Midlands printing firm after developing repetitive strain injury.

The pay-out, awarded to Karen Sketchley, 31, a former shopfloor worker at Cradley Print Ltd, Cradley Heath, West Midlands, was believed the highest in respect of RSI for a non-keyboard operator.

She was awarded the compensation after her union, the Graphical Paper and Media Union, took the case to Birmingham County Court.

She was redeployed after RSI was diagnosed more than four years ago and now does office work rather than shop floor production duties.

Tony Dubbins, the union's general secretary, said: 'This judgment clearly makes nonsense of the idea that RSI does not exist.'
