Olly Alexander described himself as a “huge fan” of Swedish singer-songwriter Robyn, naming her as a “dream collaborator”.

The British singer-songwriter surprised revellers with a last-minute performance in London’s Shoreditch delivering slower renditions of hit tracks It’s A Sin and Eyes Shut before euphoric numbers including Starstruck, If You’re Over Me and King.

When asked who was on his future musical partnership wish list, Alexander told the PA news agency: “My dream collaborator, definitely I would pick Robyn because I’ve been a huge fan of hers for ages. She’s Robyn.”

While speaking about his favourite artist to work with, he said: “It is so hard to pick, I’ve loved so many artists I’ve worked with, (they) are all amazing.

“I love the Pet Shop Boys so much, I think what they did for culture was just so amazing.”

It comes after the 33-year-old finished the Eurovision Song Contest in 18th place with his song Dizzy, which he previously said was inspired by music of the 1980s, including that of the Pet Shop Boys.

During his career, Alexander has scored five top 10 UK singles and two number-one albums with his band Years & Years.

He has also starred in a number of TV programmes, including the seventh series of teen drama Skins and It’s A Sin on Channel 4, which saw him receive a Bafta nomination for his role as Ritchie Tozer.

When asked about his career bucket list, the star added: “One thing I really want to do is I want to voice a character in an animated movie.

“I just think it’d be so fun, that’s something I want to do.”

Chart-topping singer Alexander performed in London as part of a new campaign for Magnum titled Pick Your Pleasure Pass, which encourages spontaneous pleasure with last-minute ticket giveaways to music events across the UK.
