Religious education and worship will continue to play a significant role in schools, according to the first consultation document arising from the education White Paper.

The proposals, published yesterday by Emily Blatch, Minister for Education, are designed to promote the 'spiritual and moral development' of pupils and ensure that 'proper regard' continues to be paid to Christian traditions.
