Rail services running during 48-hour strike

THESE are the major services British Rail operating companies hope to run during the 48-hour strike beginning at noon tomorrow:

InterCity East Coast: Through services from London to Leeds, Newcastle, Glasgow and Edinburgh. King's Cross to Yorkshire, North-east and Edinburgh to Glasgow Central. There will be no through services from London to Aberdeen.

West Coast Main Line: On Wednesday, trains will operate between London Euston and Manchester Piccadilly, Coventry, Birmingham and Wolverhampton and Glasgow.

InterCity Great Western: Services between London Paddington and Bristol, Plymouth, Cardiff, Swansea, Cheltenham and Worcester.

Midland Main Line: Services will run between London and Derby, London, and Nottingham and Sheffield.

Scotrail: Glasgow to Edinburgh; Edinburgh to North Berwick; Edinburgh to Bathgate; Edinburgh to Fife Circle; Glasgow Greenock West; Glasgow to Ayr, Largs, Ardrossan and Wemyss Bay; Glasgow to Motherwell via Bellshill; Glasgow to Motherwell via Hamilton; Glasgow to Paisley Canal.

South East: London Victoria and London Blackfriars to Chatham and Faversham; Victoria and London Charing Cross to Orpington; Victoria to Maidstone and Ashford; Charing Cross to Sevenoaks and Ashford; Ashford to Folkestone Central; Blackfriars to Catford and Sevenoaks; London Cannon Street to Hayes; Tonbridge to Tunbridge Wells; Sittingbourne to Sheerness; Ashford to Folkestone Central; Cannon Street to Blackheath, Eltham, Dartford and Gravesend.

South West: London Waterloo to Wimbledon, Epsom, Chessington, Hampton Court, Woking, Cobham and Guildford, Richmond and Shepperton. Also, trains from Waterloo to Basingstoke, Salisbury and Eastleigh.

Thames: A near-normal service except from Reading to Gatwick Airport, Banbury to Stratford-upon- Avon, Great Malvern to Hereford and Reading to Basingstoke. Bus link from Reading to Guildford and Gatwick.

Gatwick Express: Approximately a 30-minute service.

InterCity Crosscountry: Manchester to Edinburgh; Bristol to Birmingham and Derby; Manchester Piccadilly to Birmingham; Edinburgh to Birmingham via Northeast; Birmingham to Plymouth.

Regional Railways Central: Birmingham to Leicester/Peterborough; Nottingham to Chesterfield and Sheffield; Nottingham to Newstead; Nottingham to Birmingham and Gloucester; Loughborough to Leicester; Peterborough to Spalding; Nottingham to Derby; Derby to Matlock; Coventry to Wolverhampton, and Nottingham; Birmingham to Crewe.

Regional Railways North East: Doncaster to Sheffield; York to Leeds and Bradford and Hebden Bridge; Leeds to Ilkley; Leeds to Shipley; Leeds to Doncaster; Bradford Forster Square to Ilkley; Hebden Bridge to Bradford Interchange to Leeds; Leeds to Manchester Piccadilly; Doncaster to Scunthorpe; Newcastle to Metro Centre; Middlesbrough to Manchester Airport; York to Newcastle and Berwick; Hull to Bridlington. Also some replacement bus services.

Regional Railways North West: Manchester to Bolton, Preston and Lancaster; Oxenholme to Windermere; Manchester to Stockport; Manchester to Glossop and Hadfield; Manchester to Manchester Airport and Barrow-in-Furness; Manchester Airport to Middlesbrough; Manchester to Leeds; Also some replacement bus services.

South Wales and West: Swansea to Llanelli, Cardiff and Bristol; Birmingham to Worcester, Bristol and Weston-super-Mare; Bristol to Exeter, and Salisbury; Gloucester to Swindon; Exeter to Paignton; Exeter to Plymouth; Exeter to Barnstaple; Plymouth to Gunnislake; and St Ives to St Erth.

Merseyrail Electrics: Liverpool to Southport, Ormskirk and Kirkby.

Chiltern Lines: Normal service from London Marylebone to Aylesbury/Banbury.
