Two arrested after man dies
Police launched a murder investigation after a man died following an altercation, they said today.
Bedfordshire Police said officers were called to the High Street South, Dunstable, at 1.45am following reports of an altercation. A man in his 40s was taken by ambulance to the Luton and Dunstable Hospital where he was pronounced dead, a spokeswoman said.
An investigation, led by Detective Inspector Mike Trotman of the Beds and Herts Major Crime Unit, has been launched, and a post-mortem examination was expected to be held later today.
He said: "Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody.
"We are still at the very early stages of our investigation and I would ask for anyone who was in or around the centre of Dunstable between 1.30am and 2am this morning and saw anything which could be related to this incident to contact the police."
