Syria air strikes vote: Twitter users #PrayForSyria as they condemn the 'disgusting' decision to bomb 'innocent civilians'
MPs approved air strikes against Isis in Syria by 397 votes to 223
People are reacting to Parliament’s decision to approve air strikes against Isis targets by sharing the hashtag #PrayforSyria.
MPs voted to approve air strikes against the terror group in Syria by 397 votes to 223 on Wednesday evening.
But the move has divided many with thousands of protesters demonstrating outside Parliament on the eve of the vote.
And, following the vote, thousands continued to express their “disgust” with the Government.
But some have criticised the outrage, pointing out that the Syrian civil war has been going on for four years.
Across the UK, polls show the country is heavily divided on the issue with 54 per cent of English voters supporting the move but 72 per cent of Scots remain against it.
An online poll conducted by The Independent on Wednesday revealed that 79 per cent of our readers did not support the air strikes.
