Prime minister's day of firefighting

10am: Speech on immigration to the CBI conference in London in which he tells business leaders the debate about immigration is characterised by a "vacuum of reliable information which can all too easily be filled by myths". He stresses the economic benefit to the UK of the movement of people in and out of the country.

11.15am: Signs a book of tributes at South Africa House in Trafalgar Square to mark the 10th anniversary of democracy. He writes: "To our friends in South Africa whose courage, determination and integrity inspired and still inspire us all. Tony Blair." When Dr Lindiwe Mabuza, the South African High Commissioner, pointed out how young President Thabo Mbeki looked in one photo and how grey-haired he was now, Mr Blair laughed and replied: "That's not surprising. It tends to do that to you, this job."

11.30am: Launch at Banqueting House of the Climate Group, a coalition of leading corporations, financial institutions, civil organisations and state, city and national governments, which is designed to speed up cuts in greenhouse gas emissions.

1pm: Lunch with Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi at No 10, a key European ally in the coalition forces in Iraq.

2.15: Joint press conference on Iraq with Mr Berlusconi. Mr Blair tells reporters the UK has enough troops in Iraq but adds: "We keep the question of troops under review."

4pm: Meeting with Pat Cox, president of the European Parliament, on the eve of the expansion of European Community, which admits 10 new member states next week.

6pm: Further meetings - details undisclosed by Downing Street.

9.30pm: Finishes work for the day.
