Paddy Ashdown and the Green Party guru Jonathon Porritt are to call a joint Liberal Democrat-Green seminar to debate environmental economics. The Liberal Democrat leader said yesterday that people wanted to see politicians working together to address common problems.

The seminar will take place in October and be chaired jointly by Mr Porritt, a former director of Friends of the Earth, and Alan Beith, the Lib Dems' economics spokesman.
