SERVICE CUTS: About 6,500 personnel will be made redundant in the 1993-94 second phase of Army cutbacks, Archie Hamilton, Minister of State for the Armed Forces, said. He told Piers Merchant (C, Beckenham) that 3,338 personnel - 838 officers and 2,500 soldiers - were selected in February for the first phase of redundancy, of whom all but 143 were volunteers.
