Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Alastair Campbell is currently answering your Brexit questions in a Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA) hosted by The Independent.

Labour’s former communications chief is backing our campaign for a Final Say on the terms of the UK’s exit from the European Union.

He’s taking questions on the issue – as well as anything else you want to ask him – for an hour from 5pm BST on Wednesday 18 September. You can post questions by following this link.

Best known as Tony Blair’s former spin doctor, Mr Campbell has recently been reunited with the former Labour prime minister in calling for a People’s Vote on the final Brexit deal.

He is also an interviewer for GQ magazine, an author, and a prominent mental health campaigner.

“But it is Brexit and the People’s Vote that is getting my political pulse racing just now,” said Mr Campbell.

More than 810,000 people now signed The Independent‘s petition urging Theresa May to call a referendum on the final Brexit deal.

Whether you support leaving or remaining in the EU, you can call for a Final Say by signing our petition and by attending the March for the Future, hosted by People's Vote and The Independent, in central London on 20 October.
