The Conservatives' leadership election begins in earnest today with Boris Johnson and Theresa May expected to be the early frontrunners.

Outside choice Stephen Crabb has obviously launched his bid to be the next Prime Minister, backed by Business Secretary Sajid Javid.

The turmoil in the Labour party is expected to continue with the possibility of more resignations, as Jeremy Corbyn struggles to fill his shadow cabinet after badly losing a no confidence vote.

Meanwhile Britain's future relationship with the EU is under discussion as David Cameron warns Brussels that fears about immigration contributed towards the vote to leave.

The EU will hold the second day of its emergency summit to discuss Brexit on Wednesday, with the remaining 27 member states discussing how best to continue without Britain. Mr Cameron has not been invited.

And in the business world, the markets have somewhat steadied in the wake of the referendum result – but Barclays, HSBC and Lloyds are nonetheless among 12 banks at risk of being downgraded by rating agency Moody’s.
