The wife of the retired businessman extradited to the US for alleged arms dealing broke down in tears as she gave evidence to MPs yesterday.
Elaine Tappin told the Home Affairs Select Committee that British courts had not been interested in the merits of the case against her husband, Chris.
Attorney General Dominic Grieve, appearing after her, admitted there were aspects of the extradition treaty that made the public feel "uncertain and uneasy" but argued that was not "readily curable". He said ministers were considering new rules.
